account42 for developers
account42 is a booking system for businesses that sell seats at a fixed time: a yoga class on Tuesday at 7pm, a pottery course over four Saturdays, a swim lesson with eight lanes. A studio sets up its classes, connects its own Stripe or PayPal account, and takes bookings on its own website through one script tag and one custom element. Seats, holds, waitlists, payments, refunds, confirmations, reminders and the customer's manage link are all handled by account42; the studio's site only renders the widget.
To a developer, account42 is three things:
- A widget.
booking.jsfrom this origin, rendering<a42-booking key="…">. It runs with a publishable key that is tied to the site's address and can sit in a public page. → Embedding the widget - A JSON API. Every v1 route under

The sandbox studio
A studio called account42 Sandbox exists for exactly this purpose. It is live, connected to Stripe in test mode, and seeded with classes every night. Book a class there, pay with a test card, and watch what the customer receives.

- How to get a key for it, what the test cards are, and what is sent for real: The sandbox
The sandbox studio's sign-in belongs to account42 and is not published. You do not need it: everything a developer does runs on a key, and a key for the sandbox is minted through the connect flow described on the sandbox page.
Pages
- Embedding the widget — the two tags, WordPress, Wix, Shopify, the connect handshake, origins and the Reconnect rule, hosted page versus embedded return.
- API reference — every v1 route, its auth, request and response shapes, every error code, rate limits, idempotency, CORS. Generated from the source.
- Webhooks — what account42 sends to connectors (nothing, today) and what it receives from Stripe, PayPal, Shopify and Wix.
- The sandbox — a key for the sandbox studio, test cards, the nightly reset, what sends for real.
- Status — status.account42.com.
- Privacy and data retention — what account42 holds about a studio's customers, the 24-month and 7-year rules, the nightly sweep, the Terms acceptance at sign-in.
